Most of the newer cars have a front strut that is held at the bottom by a hefty clamp that is part of the front wheel bearing carrier. After removing the pinch bolt, this tool will spread the clamp. Don't break your good screwdrivers on this task! For Golf®/Jetta®/New Beetle® from 1999.

Handy ½" hex base fits into wrench or socket.

Turn 90° and leave in place while replacing strut. Style may vary slightly due to continuous improvements.
