This adjusting screw connects the top of the injector with the rocker arm.

From the self study guide: "After installing a pump/injector, the minimum clearance between the base of the high-pressure chamber and the pump piston must be adjusted at the pump/injector adjusting screw. This adjustment prevents the pump piston from knocking against the base of the high- pressure chamber due to heat expansion."
