Raise your Sportwagen for extra ground clearance and rear cargo capacity with this lift spring set.  This spring set combines Sportwagen rear towing springs with Tiguan front springs, resulting in a 1.5 inch front lift and a 2+ inch rear lift (when unloaded).

The higher rate rear springs will also allow you to load up the cargo area of your Sportwagen, or attach a trailer, without having the rear end sag.

While this setup will work with the OEM suspension, we strongly recommend combining these springs with Koni Yellows Tiguan Shocks.  Based on riding many different configurations, when combined with the longer travel of the Tiguan shocks, this spring-shock setup handles broken roads and pavement much, much better than OEM.

Frequently Asked Questions

While these will technically *fit*, we do not recommend them as they are too strong a spring for the rear weight of the golf. This will result in an over-extended suspension and potential topping-out of the rear shocks.
Yes, we have an Alltrack spring kit, which will include higher lift springs front and rear. Search for Alltrack in the search box.

What our customers say...

Great lift setup, with some issues with struts I had a shop install these lift springs along with the recommended Koni Special Active shocks in August. All was going well, except for a noticeable thud in the back over extremely sharp speed bumps and very bad pavement. I didn't pay too much attention, until I went to switch over to winter tires this November. When I jacked up the driver side rear, I heard a hissing noise at full shock extension and saw blue fluid spewing from the strut. The valve was toast and the shock was no longer dampening. Upon doing some research, the Koni Special Active is not the longest shock at max extension available, at 585mm. The Bilstein B6 33-158723, intended for a GTI/Golf, extends to 640mm. There's also the Koni Yellow 8040-1395, intended for a Tiguan, which goes to 630mm. I decided to give the Bilstein B6 a try. After installing it this afternoon, I am pleased with the early results. The Bilsteins are noticeably stiffer than than the Koni Special Actives, but not excessively so. Small pavement imperfections are more noticeable, but the rear feels tighter under tight cornering. The Bilstein B6 also feels like a nicer built shock. The welds look better and it's physically heavier. I still get a noticeable thud in the rear end over very sharp speed bumps. It sounds less violent on the Bilsteins compared to the Konis, probably due to the additional 2 inches of travel and stiffer dampening. I'm not sure why I had this issue, as I can't find other reports of this happening on forums. It could be my vehicle is slightly different than other, or maybe the shock topping out was unrelated to the valve failure. Either way, I would recommend anyone using these springs to use Koni Special Actives in the front and Bilstein B6 33-158723 in the rear.

Great upgrade to my 2009 TDI SportWagen. I drive 40-50K miles per year; with a lot of it in winter snow, and really wanted extra ground clearance. One of my factory springs broke a couple years ago at about 200,000 miles; so I replaced all 4 with these. My budget didn't allow for me to replace the struts or shocks (which were still original) however. The struts really needed to be replaced but I just couldn't swing it at the time. These springs dd accentuate the worn out struts and shocks. I removed my front factory installed "mud flaps" to get a little extra turning clearance in the wheel-well and was able to put 215 60 R16 tires on to fill the extra space from the taller stance. Those have worked out well. I finally replaced the Stuts and Shocks with Koni FSD's as recommended by IDParts, and all I can say is WOW! The handling and comfort is amazing -- better than original my a long shot AND with the extra ground clearance AND with "tall" profile tires on 16's. Great work guys on putting together this whole combination!!! If only it were possible to make it AWD it would be the perfect car!

Had the lift springs installed in my 2012 Jetta Sportwagen on 2 June 2016 and I am very pleased with the results. It does lift the car 1.5" (front) - 2.5" (back) and give you more ground clearance yet the car still appears level. The appearance is similar to a Subaru Outback. I no longer make contact with the driveway entrance and no longer have to crawl over speed bumps. I did not change out the OEM shocks but handling has not changed much in fact it seems a bit tighter in a fast corner. The steering is just slightly tighter in terms of moving the steering wheel and you do get a little more road feel. There is slightly more wind rushing sound at highway speed as more of the wheel well is exposed. We can now connect our utility trailer and not have the serious tail droop issue. But be aware the rear hatch door handles are now 2.5 inches higher when the hatch is open (bit of a problem for my 5ft wife). This is well worth the money.

Installed these on a 2013 Sportwagen SE 2.5. It sits fairly level and I didn\'t have to adjust headlights. On my set, the writing was upside down for how the springs needed to fit the front struts, FYI. Have experienced a little topping out in the rear on rough sections of dirt roads - as others have mentioned a longer rear strut than the Koni Special Active may be advisable, but otherwise the combo with these springs rides better than factory. I routinely carry heavy loads, and no more tire rub/bottoming out. Running with 215/55r17 tires. Very happy with the purchase and wish I had done it sooner. Have been using idparts since we had our 2006 Jetta TDI-PD. Miss that car!

Put these on my 2010 2.5L jetta sportwagen the other day. Kept OEM everything except the springs, although I did end up having to replace front strut and mount due to my own carelessness. These springs are meant for the diesel version of the sportwagen, so on my regular car the front looks a bit higher, but overall it looks good and feels good. Generally easy install coming from someone who does not do a lot of big work on cars.

I ordered these in combination with the standard Bilstein shocks for my 2012 TDI Sportwagen. I was always disappointed with the ground clearance that the stock Sportwagen had. The extra 1 1/2\" lift makes a big difference in getting in and out of the car and the handling doesn\'t seem to suffer. Why they didn\'t come standard I have no idea.
