This vacuum line runs from the pump at the end of the camshaft to the brake booster. Part of it is plastic and is prone to splitting with age. Replacing this line can help remedy a low or sinking brake pedal.

This line can also get plugged with debris, which can interfere with vacuum supply to the turbo. Low boost conditions can sometimes be addressed through replacing this line.

BEW cars with a manual transmission only.

OEM VW parts come from VW and are clearly marked with the VW logo and part number and/or boxed in VW boxes or bags. While IDParts.com sources many parts directly from manufacturers that supply VW, items marked as OEM VW are purchased from Volkswagen itself.

What our customers say...

This terrible design by VW is unfortunately a must have for brake power assist and turbo boost actuation in A4 BEW MT car. Most of the part is actually fine, and will last the life of the car, however the "hard line" part, which is the rigid plastic tubing, is too thin for its purpose, and is prone to cracking under the stresses of diesel engine vibrations. IDparts however faithfully provides the exact OEM, which will provide correct service for the limited lifespan of the part. What might be a practical thing to do, although not recommended unless you know what you are doing, is to replace the hard line with something more robust. I've heard that some automatic transmission oil line with 5/8" inside diameter, and a Gates brand right angle adapter somewhere in the middle might do the trick. Again not recommended, but this modification is possible, and if done well ~may~ give you a longer effective lifespan for this part. Then again, it may not.

I never had any issues with the brakes on my 2004 PD TDI (BEW) manual until driving home a few nights ago and the brake pedal went to the floor. Yikes! I did some reading, found that cracking of the plastic hose on this line to the brake booster was a common problem. Received it, installed it, brakes are back to being fine. Installation was easy - 1) remove the plastic engine cover, 2) remove the flex air intake line from the filter box, and everything is easily within reach. (The old plastic line had a ~ 1" long split at the fitting going into the booster. The grommet was fine.) Total time (including driving around the neighborhood to verify the fix) was about 30 minutes. Thanks very much. Cheers, Scott.

This product is a VW OEM part, and matches the original it replaces. Nothing against IDParts, but this product is designed to fail. You might want to replace the hard line with something more robust. Be cognizant that you are providing your own warranty when and if you make any modification.

Had some poor braking performance and found the likely cause on You-Tube. Found this part and replaced it in about five minutes. Does not come with clamp. The existing clamp will be sacrificed removing old hose. I used stainless hose clamp with no issues.
