The winterfront can work with a front tag but the bracket or the winterfront may need to be trimmed. We do not offer an option that comes pre-trimmed as the brackets tend to differ from each dealer/state and some customers do not use a front plate.

What our customers say...

What a great product! Originally purchased as a consequence of the VW intercooler problem, I now find that with the intercooler kit installed and the new winter front, my mileage shot up 5%. I am a courier and drive the same 200 miles every day, so I'm sensitive to the smallest changes. A winter front makes sense, the engine warms up faster and stays in an optimal range. For brief winter warm ups, I just undo the top flap covering the air intake. Normally my best mpg is at 60-65 degrees, but yesterday (45 degree ambient), I had my highest in 130K @ 53 avg. Problems: If there is a front license plate holder, the bottom cover is difficult to set. In PA we have no front plate, so I took the holder off. A little stronger Velcro or more of it would have been nice. I have my own, so I reinforced it and now it works great.

Easy to install, easy to remove. Looks more professional than the pipe insulation I had been using on the lower grill. Folds flat for easy storage. This cover reduces the time to warm up the car by 1/3 to 1/2. I have not done exact measurements, but my winter fuel economy is about 1mpg better. We have front license plates in NY, so I had to cut notches in the lower cover to fit it around the bracket. There is a sensor behind the lower grill; I don't know what it is for, but I drilled a hole in the lower cover to allow free air flow to the sensor.

I had 190,000 miles on my 2010 Golf TDI driven in CA and FL when I moved to CT with no problems. My first winter season I ran into multiple occasions where my car wouldn't start due to intercooler icing. After purchasing this winter front my fuel economy went up about 4 mpg and IC icing issues disappeared. 5k trouble free miles accumulated since I started using the winter front.

Arrived quick, fits great, looks good. I notched the bottom piece to fit around the license plate bracket. Bring the cold weather...

Perfect for cars operating in cold climates. Also, easy on, easy off for the crazy weather we get in the northeast.
