Installed my winter fronts today for the second year, so I am speaking from the perspective of having used them last winter. These functioned perfectly last year, and are reasonably easy to install, given what there is to work with on the front of the NMS Passat. On the other hand, any significant change in the front end will probably necessitate the production of different versions, as the mounting is completely dependent upon four velcro tabs at the top and a series of foam pillows on the end of short straps coming off the back. When I first installed the fronts last year, I felt that if there were a problem, the foam pillows would be the cause. But when they're pushed back into the grille, there is where they stay. I made no attempt to push the foam pillows completely through the grille, but I think that there's little reason for concern here, as the forward motion of the car tends to compress the fronts into the grill, so they tend to stay put, whatever happens. The construction seems sturdy enough. The fronts seem to have suffered no wear & tear from last winter, but as they're just laminated cloth + vinyl, time will tell. I'll reserve one star, and if they last 5 years, I'll come back and award the 5th star....

The stitching and materials appear to be of OK quality, and the fit is also adequate on the upper sections. Where I ran into problems is with the bottom piece. It appears to be designed for a vehicle with a bottom license plate, which my province does not require and my vehicle is not equipped with. It also uses large foam pads that need to be shoved through the bottom grill holes. These pads are a tad too large, making it impossible for me to get the entire foam piece through the grill. I even used a Robertson screwdriver to jam the foam through. Additionally, for my install, there was a bit of excess material gathered in the middle bottom that needed to be taped to the grill manually to avoid an unsightly appearance. Overall I would recommend this product to a friend as it is the only one available for our vehicles. If another company manufactured one and stepped up their design even slightly, they would have a clear advantage.
