Doing your own oil changes are the easiest way to save time and money while ensuring your Mercedes is cared for properly.  This kit includes all the items you need to complete an oil change yourself without ever crawling underneath your car. This is an oil change starter kit for all Mercedes Benz models equipped with the OM642, 3.0L V6 diesel engine.

This kit includes:

  • 9 Liters/Quarts of MB 229.51 Approved Oil
  • Oil Filter (OE Mahle or Mann)
  • 15L Oil Extractor
  • 84mm Oil Filter Wrench

The default components in this kit are recommended by IDParts.  However, we also offer a selection of Mercedes 229.51 approved oils:

  • Rowe Hightec Synt RS DLS 5w30- Rowe HC synthesis technology-based, premium, multi-grade, low-viscosity engine oil. Made in Germany.
  • Total INEO MC3 5w30 - recently reformulated and approved for the latest European diesel requirements, including 229.51 & 229.52
  • OEM Mercedes-Benz fully-synthetic 5w30 oil
  • Pentosin HP2 5w40 - higher viscosity than most other 229.51 oils.
  • Liqui Moly Top Tec 4200 5w30 - made in Germany
  • Castrol EDGE Turbo Diesel - Castrol's best diesel-specific oil, 5w40 weight
  • Mobil 1 ESP X1 0w30 - The new OEM Mercedes dealer oil, approved for 229.51 & 229.52.  Mercedes uses this oil in both Gasoline & Diesel engines, and we wonder if it is the best choice for protecting diesel internals.

A new drain plug is also available if yours is damaged.

This motor requires a low SAPS oil that meets Mercedes Specification 229.51. Proper oil is vital to protect delicate (and expensive!) emissions equipment.

2007 models may require an extra liter/quart of oil so we recommend purchasing an additional bottle for model-year 2007 cars.

What our customers say...

This service kit is great include everything you need to service the car. The pump didn't seal around the base but that was remedy buy using hose clamp and work perfect after that. It is slower to drain the oil but it allow you do other things while waiting for the oil to drain, and since there is a sound damper martial around the oil pain it is hard to remove and it get in the way using the pump is ideal. I would recommend anyone that want to change there oil this best route since some of those pumps can cost the same price of the service kit.
