** Newest Generation Ceramic Lining **

This is South Bend's Stage 2 Endurance clutch and flywheel kit for VWs. It replaces the OE dual mass flywheel with an SBC single mass flywheel in the weight you choose: 14, 17 or 22lb. (stock is 21-22lb.). It includes a new ceramic full face lining on the flywheel side and a "Medium Metal" content Organic lining on the pressure plate side. This combination runs cooler and significantly extends clutch life. The OFE series clutch not only engages very smoothly, it will hold well over 350 ft/lbs of torque in this application. This is an excellent clutch for TDIs with extreme modifications that are also driven daily.

The kit includes:

  • Standard or SBC 21 lb. flywheel or SBC 17 or 14 lb.
  • Clutch disc
  • Pressure Plate
  • Throwout bearing

Recommended with caveats. My ALH has RC6, Hybrid turbo etc etc. I had the "daily" clutch in my car for a long time but exceeded its power rating. I then jumped to a "Race" clutch and that nearly undrivable on the street, so I gave this clutch a try. It is WAY better than the race clutch, yes...but, it is not as nice as the daily. Is it drivable on a day-to-day basis, yes, I would say it is, but it isn't the most enjoyable thing. The main issue is the "grabbiness" which can be a bit jerky. You'll get the hang of it, but it isn't as forgiving as the daily/stock clutch was. Reality check: if I want to make this much power something has to give, and I'm happy with this clutch's performance considering its holding capacity.
