If you need to replace the clutch on your high mileage TDI and want to stick with the super-smooth DMF setup, this is the kit to go with.  The main clutch component in this kit is preferred the LUK dual-mass flywheel, pressure plate and clutch kit.  This LUK is both stronger and more reliable than the factory stock Sachs DMF setup.

The LUK clutch comes pre-assembled with the pressure plate already mated to to the flywheel and the clutch disk prealigned.  There are slots through which you can install and torque the flywheel-to-crank bolts.

Does not come with alignment tool.  The clutch disk is pre-installed and pre-aligned inside the pressure-plate & flywheel assembly.  Do not dissassemble clutch or you will lose the alignment.

Lighter pedal but stronger than stock! Installed this on my 2006 Golf TDI (mk4 / PD) at 333k km. I have RC1 tuning but no other power upgrades, but my stock Sachs clutch had been slipping for years, especially if you stepped on the power too fast 5th gear with the AC on. I occasionally tow a utility trailer for trips to Menards or helping "friends" move. Clutch installation went smoothly for a first timer, it was very nice that the pressure plate, clutch & flywheel are pre-assembled and aligned together. The IDParts kit had all the bolts needed, making this a great time saver. While I had the transmission out, I also replaced the slave cylinder and rear main seal at the same time. My leaking RMS (cracked housing) was the reason to remove the transmission, clutch & flywheel in the first place. Now it doesn't leak! This has been in for nearly 2 years and it is a joy to drive. Pedal engagement is positive but clutch action is much lighter than the stock clutch. No issues hauling 1800+ lbs of limestone home from the landscaping supply, with the AC on. Lighter pedal took some brief re-learning, but it is an excellent mild upgrade from stock if it's clutch time for you.

I ordered and installed this clutch on my 2006 Golf Tdi. It was economical and complete. One reviewer did mention the lighter feel of the pedal over the stock clutch and that review was 100% accurate. However, I find the lightness of the pedal to be an advantage now after being stuck in I-95 road jams with an ever increasing frequency. My transmission was demonstrating some shifting difficulty. Perhaps that was to be expected after 305000 miles of continuous use on the original clutch. I was also experiencing an occasional shifter getting stuck in fifth. Since the clutch install, none of those issues have returned. The shifts are smooth, crisp(ish) and light. I did swap the shift bushings and linkages during the clutch install so some of the improvements could be attributed to those components. I would enthusiastically recommend this clutch kit for anyone interested in replacing their old worn out stock clutch. I also believe there is no better assembly of VW/diesel experts than idParts. I have used them since before they were idParts. I am not being paid to say that. I just like what they offer and they help me keep my car running well for over 300000 miles.

I always use the luk dual mass setup. Nice and smooth engagement, good holding and no vibration! I used a south bend single mass a few years ago and it destroyed itself in about 80k

Holy soft clutch, Batman. This was a perfect replacement for my 265k mile clutch. It comes with the dual mass flywheel, so no need to change to a single mass flywheel. My clutch still has mileage left, but my throwout bearing had completely disintegrated. This kit was complete and bolted right in. A word of caution, and the only reason for four stars, is that it is SOFT. The weighting is much softer than the original clutch and will take some getting used to. I only have PP520 injectors, no chip or bigger turbo, and it has no problem holding the power. Good replacement, but be wary of the weighting...
