Replacing the timing belt on your Cruz diesels requires a special set of tools. These are the tools you need to properly remove and replace the timing belt and properly time your Cruze Diesel engine.
We have put this kit together as a cost effective alternative to the OE tools which can run over $400.
Our Timing Belt Tool Kit includes:
- Crankshaft Locking Tool - locks crankshaft onto TDC. Be sure you install this tool before removing the origina belt!
- 2x Camshaft Locking Pin - these spring loaded pins screws into the cylinder head and locks into an indent in the camshaft. When the pin locks you know the camshaft is at TDC. (Remember the camshaft turns at 1/2 speed of the crank, so there are two crank TDCs but only one camshaft TDC - therefore the camshaft TDC is the true TDC)
- Camshaft Sprocket Counterhold Tool - you will need to remove the camshaft spirochete during the timing belt job, so you will need to remove the camshaft sprocket securing bolt. In order to remove the bolt you’ll need to counter-Hold the sprocket - if you try to remove the bolt with just the camshaft lock pin in place it will break the pin.
