Front Spring (A4 Jetta Wagon VR6)
Purchased and installed these springs on my 2002 Jetta TDI Wagon about 9-months ago. At same time I replaced the strut bearings and rubber mounts at top end of the shock. The INA rubber mounts were about 3/8" taller than the original mounts. That additional height plus the slightly stronger Simplex V-6 springs raised the front fender opening 1" higher than with stock TDI springs. Now, when unloaded, the wagon sits level with the standard jacked-up rear end of the wagon. Also installed new Bilstein B4 TC standard length (comfort) shocks along with new gaiters. This is my out-of-town cruising wagon. The car has ALWAYS had a soft suspension, from new. It has hardened up just slightly (or, is that my imagination?) and still has a comfortable ride. For a cross country car I didn't want a harsh ride and these springs are not harsh, BUT, I don't get that Panzer Belly Pan bottoming out on driveway dips any more !!!!!! No problems installing. Be sure to get the little front suspension "spreader tool". That makes installation a breeze.
This is my 4th set of springs and struts and I finally got the combination I've been looking for. Suplex VR6 Wagon Springs with Bilstein Sport Struts on the front and Jetta Wagon Springs on the back. Now the car sits level. I have decent ground clearance. I haven't bottomed out yet. It rides nice and corners flat. I was surprised it was not a progressive wound spring and expected a hard ride but it's not bad at all. The Moog progressive springs turned my car into a plow with the rear wagon springs. It actually feels more like an SUV ride now and that's OK. Another 1/2inch ride height would have been better.
