Frequently Asked Questions

No, it is impossible to preload the bearing on the hub on this platform. The bearing must be pressed into the knuckle before the hub can be pressed into the bearing. If you are looking for a preassembled unit that does not require a press, we stock fully assembled knuckles that are preloaded with bearings and hub and are ready to install.

What our customers say...

Purchased this product due to surface corrosion on original vw wheel hub after 20 some odd years of use. I felt it would be a shame to install a new bearing into a painted knuckle with the old rusted hub. The wheel hub has FEBI GERMANY engraved on the edge which is a plus. The picture of the flange and reluctor ring are different. This flange has 3 Phillips screws holding on the abs reluctor unlike the original which is welded in place. I'm guessing this was a revision from the original design. Otherwise the flange fits perfectly. When installing you should seat the hub flange in the bearing before axle installation. Pretty easy using id parts rear swing arm bushing tool along with an extra socket used as a spacer indexed to the center of the wheel bearing race. Be careful drawing the hub into the wheel bearing. You dont want to damage the bearing seal. After that there is a special torque procedure of 147 foot pounds to seat the bearing, flange and cv axle. Spin the tire half a revolution, back the nut off half a turn and torque to 37 FT LBS. Once it's torqued you have tighten it another 60 degree turn by marking the flange and the 12 point nut. Two caselations on the nut equals 60 degrees, so tighten it until they line up. Make sure both front wheels are on the ground when you are tightening the nut. The differential spider gears/ carrier might get damaged otherwise...
